Community Feedback
The members of the Stanford Statistics Department aspire to learn from and support each other. As data is used pervasively and in many sensitive applications, we believe it is important for all groups in our society to actively participate in shaping statistics and data science. We strive to develop and implement practices that make the department a trusted space where people from all backgrounds, perspectives and situations are encouraged to contribute, and are treated with respect, candor, grace and empathy.
We invite all members of our community to contribute suggestions to support and realize this vision. Suggestions can be submitted using our anonymous feedback form.
We welcome feedback on all topics relevant to the well-being of the department community. Examples include light-hearted suggestions — such as better snacks at department socials or requests for holiday decorations — as well as serious feedback such as expressions of concerns or reports of misconduct.
Submissions will be reviewed on a monthly basis by the department’s DEIB Committee: during AY 2023-24, members are LaShanette Breazell, John Cherian, Chiara Sabatti, Rob Tibshirani, Julie Zhang, Yao Zhang and Tijana Zrnic. Depending on the nature of your feedback, you might want to consider other forms of reporting or ways to ask for help (see below).
Submissions will be treated with discretion. On a need-to-know basis, the DEIB Committee will inform relevant department members. Furthermore, we will abide by the Stanford Code of Conduct and its mandatory reporting considerations.
