Installing SAM on an  IMAC


SAM does not work directly on a MAC, but can be run under
the  Parallels windows emulation software.

You need to purchase  the Parallels package ($49 at our bookstore) 
and you need a copy of windows XP and windows Office/Excel (2003 or 2007). 

 Here are the steps:

1) install Parallels
2) fire up Parallels and install windows XP
3) install office 2007  in windows XP
4) install  the *windows**  version of the  R package from http://cran.r-project.org/
5) install SAM from http://www-stat.stanford.edu/~tibs/SAM/index.html


The whole process takes about an hour.
