Definition: Given anoutcome space $\Omega$, a discrete random variable and its distribution function m, we define the probability of an event E as

$$P(E)=\sum_{\omega_i \in E} m(\omega_i)$$

Consequence:Direct consequences of the definition are that:

$$P(\phi)=0,\qquad P(\Omega)=1$$

where $\phi$ is the empty set.
