Boston Scientific is one of the four largest medical devices companies in the US, with products covering almost every area of medicine. Boston Scientific has sales of about $6 billion annually and about 30,000 employees.

The development of its medical devices and analysis of data from bench, animal, and clinical trial experiments is solidly based on the use of statistical methods. One area of mutual interest between Boston Scientific and the Stanford Statistics Department is prediction.

Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them, with the goal of allowing people to communicate more efficiently.  The social graph comprises detailed user information and relationships for over 60 million users; managing terabytes of this data is one of Facebook's main challenges.

Because of the level of user interaction and volume of user-generated content on the site, Facebook is an ideal place for communication, collaborative filtering, viral distribution of memes, and demographic insights.

Some of the ongoing projects at Facebook involve privacy control, spam detection, and News Feed, advertising, and search relevancy.

Fair, Isaac is well known for its pioneering work in credit scoring. They also deliver data management services, analytics, software, and consulting to the financial services, direct marketing, insurance, retail, and healthcare industries. Headquartered in San Rafael, California, Fair, Isaac employs 1,500 people in 17 offices worldwide.

Fair, Isaac's proprietary modeling technology is a unique blend of concepts from statistics, operations research, data mining, and machine learning. Fair Isaac has long been at the cutting edge of modeling methodology. For example, Fair, Isaac's segmented scorecard is an early instance of a regression tree with embedded Generalized Additive Models.

Fair Isaac continues to use and develop statistical modeling methods. Areas of mutual interest between Fair Isaac and Stanford's Statistics department include semi-parametric classification and regression, boosting, and bootstrap model validation.

Unilever Research Port Sunlight is based in the UK. It is one of the global research laboratories of Unilever which is an Anglo-Dutch Multinational producing Home & Personal Care and Food FMCG worldwide.

The Affiliates are from the Marketing Science Unit, which has been at the forefront in developing new innovative analytical and predictive market modelling techniques and methodologies to enhance understanding of brand sales data and consumer buying behaviour. Statistics provides one of the sources for new techniques, the group also draws from other disciplines such as control engineering and econometrics.
