Help Wanted

• I might have misspelt the name of Chaudhuri's mother above; I only remember it from one of his works. I am reasonably sure of his father's name though.
• Nirad Chaudhuri's eldest son, if I remember correctly, is Dhruva Narayan Chaudhuri. I read somewhere that he edited a volume of his father's works. What is his birth date? What was that book? One Indian publication refers to him as Professor Dhruva Chaudhuri of the Indian Institute of Mass communication. What is he professor of? And where is this institute located? I wasn't able to locate it on the Web.
• One article says that the Chaudhuri children live in separate countries. Where, exactly? I know about Prof. K. N. Chaudhuri.
• When was Nirad Chaudhuri elected to the Royal Literary Society? I'd like details.
• When was Nirad Chaudhuri conferred a CBE?
• I would like a reference to the full text of the speech delivered by the Public Orator when Nirad Chaudhuri was conferred an honorary D. Litt.

The choice of these personalities is dictated by my reading. I usually tend to read all the works (in English) by an author that I can lay my hands on before I change topics. As you can well imagine, this is a slow process.

In case you are wondering, no, I don't read Bengali. My mother says I spoke Bengali as a child---we lived in Calcutta near Dunlop Bridge for three or four years---but I don't remember anything now. I will gratefully accept and acknowledge any help that you can provide me with Bengali works by people who interest me.
